What's a chargeback?
A chargeback is when a client disputes a card payment saying the charge was fraudulent, not delivered or not to their satisfaction. The bank often sides with the customer, issues a refund to them and charges the merchant.
What makes a payment or deposit eligible for Artist Chargeback Protection?
You're eligible whenever your client makes a deposit or payment through Venue using Apple Pay, Google Pay, card or BNPL options like Affirm, Klarna, Afterpay or Clearpay and your payout is sent through Stripe.
How do I keep my account in good standing?
If you're an artist taking deposits and payments when booking, chatting with clients, and making sure they have a great experience — you're 100% in good standing. If you're ghosting your clients after taking their deposit, not providing the best service or breach our T&Cs, then your account will be in bad standing and you won't qualify for chargeback protection.
Do I need to sign up or pay for Artist Chargeback Protection?
No, eligible deposits and payments made on Venue are automatically protected. The booking fee covers all of this!
What happens if a chargeback happens?
Our Artist Concierge team will reach out to request more details to submit a claim on your behalf. Keeping as much of your chats on Venue makes it easier for us to submit a claim too, so make sure to encourage your clients to keep all correspondence on Venue.
Why is Venue doing this? Isn't it expensive?
Yes, but there are many reasons:
• We know how much it sucks for you when clients do chargebacks and you lose money.
• We want to make sure artists feel supported for their hard work and effort.
• We know some artists are wary about accepting cards or BNPL because of chargebacks so we wanted to remove this barrier.• We want to have your back so you have peace of mind booking with us!
